Incident at Vancouver

Summary

1997-01-29: CDR 1344 was overtaken by departing UAL 1718 (Boeing 737) from Rwy 26. After the F28 departed and proper spacing achieved UAL 1718 was cleared for departure. The departure controller noticed that the F28 was climbing slower than anticipated. UAL was subsequently cleared to maintain 3000' and CDR was cleared to the south. A loss of separation occurred when the aircraft came within one mile horizontally and 700' vertically. The required separation is 1000' vertical and 3 miles horizontal.
