Incident at FORT ALBANY ON (CYFA)
Summary
1996-12-06: The helicopter was being refuelled with Jet B from drums, using an electric fuel pump. As the refuelling was completed and the pump was being removed from the drum, there were suddenly flames from the refuelling port and smoke from the drum. The flames were extinguished by covering the openings with leather gloved hands. The helicopter was substantially damaged by the expanding fuel tank. The helicopter will be transported to Sudbury for major repairs. Ops. impact -- unknown.
