Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ) (TCAS alert, Conflict - potential, Conflict - IFR & VFR)
Summary
1996-11-01: The Air Canada Boeing 767-233 aircraft (C-GAUE, operating as ACA790) was at 5,000' on a left downwind, being vectored to the localizer for runway 24L at Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cessna C-210R aircraft (C-FMOM) was manoeurvring in the Toronto area at 5,000' and was operating under VFR. ATC passed traffic on both aircraft to each flight crew. The pilot of C-FMOM confirmed that he had the traffic (ACA790) in sight. The flight crew of ACA790 received a TCAS RA advisory. The spacing between the two aircraft was 1.3 NM where 1 NM is required. Ops. Impact -- unknown.
