Summary

1996-10-29: While on climb out after takeoff, the 14th stage duct overheat indicated excessive temperature. The crew carried out the appropriate procedures but the excessive temperature indication remained. The #2 engine was shut down and the flight returned to Toronto for an uneventful landing. The company reported that the 14th stage overheat sensing loop was chaffing on the duct which caused an erroneous temperature indication. The loop was replaced and properly secured. Ops.
