Accident at OTTAWA / ROCKCLIFFE ON (CYRO)

Summary

1996-09-23: The pilot bought the ultralight in August 1996 and was familiarizing himself with its flight characteristics. His intention was to takeoff and immediately land on the runway after becoming airborne. The aircraft took off from runway 27, with the winds reported to be from the north at 10-15 knots. The aircraft drifted to the left side of the runway and the pilot was unsuccessful in re-aligning the aircraft to the runway. The pilot reduced the engine power to idle and the aircraft landed hard on the grass. The pilot was injured but the aircraft was substantially damaged. Ops. Impact -- unknown. From a TSB Initial Notificiation.
