Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown, ATM - NAVAIDS/radar)
Summary
1996-09-09: At 1439Z, the ILS for runway 24L failed. At 1539Z, it was determined that the ILS was functioning normally but the "MONCO" system was again malfunctioning and would not turn the ILS on. At 1936Z, the MONCO system was disabled to allow the ILS 24L to emit the localizer and glidepath signals. Ops. Impact -- arrival capacity reduced from a possible 54 to 38 per hour (single approach runway due weather).
