Incident at North Bay ROCC IFSS (Aerodrome - power failure)
Summary
1996-08-16: Total UPS failure resulting in loss of all equipment connected to it including (but not limited to) MIDS, radar, and all radios (Baffin HF, Baffin VHF, Arctic VHF and North Bay VHF). Battery backup failed after approximately one hour. Commercial power available but only connected to overhead lighting. Phone lines remained operable. Began connecting 1 MIDS system to commercial power but problem was fixed prior to getting it online. Ops. Impact -- all services impact as no radio communications were available; weather briefings by phone were not severely affected until the IM completely failed.
