Incident at OTTAWA / MACDONALD-CARTIER INTL ON (CYOW)
Summary
1996-05-24: Shortly after the engagement of a research fly-by-wire system, the aircraft was subjected to large spurious inputs generated by the system. During recovery from the ensuing unusual attitude, significant vibration was felt from the engine/transmission area. The aircraft was landed in the grass operating area as a precaution and towed back to the hangar. An inspection indicated a distortion of the forward firewall resulting from excessive movement and marks on the input drive shaft from contact with the intake cowling. Ops. Impact -- unknown.
