Summary

1996-05-15: While enroute from Toronto to Boston, there was a strong electrical smell and smoke coming from the galley. All electrical circuit breakers for the galley were manually tripped and the smell and smoke dissipated. The flight continued to Boston and landed without incident with ERS standing by. Maintenance traced the problem to an aircraft galley unit and the flight returned to Toronto with electrical power to the galley removed. Maintenance in Toronto found the galley receptacle burnt, replaced it and sent the unit for examination. Ops. Impact -- unknown. From a TSB Initial Notification.
