Summary

1996-03-22: Initial information from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A96O0054): The Boeing 737 aircraft was lining up on the runway for departure when the APU fire warning light illuminated. The fire bottles were discharged, ERS requested and the flight crew taxied the aircraft to the perimeter. Maintenance found no evidence of fire but oil on the fire detection loop apparently had caused a short circuit which triggered the alarm. 100 S.O.B. -- five (5) crew; 95 passengers.
