Accident at BURLINGTON EXECUTIVE ON (CZBA)

Summary

1996-03-23: The main landing gear hit a snowbank while the aircraft was on short final. A normal landing was carried out and the aircraft taxied to the hangar. Upon exitting the aircraft, the pilot determined that the main landing gear had been damaged by the contact with the snowbank. Ops. impact -- unknown. *** UPDATE *** While on final approach to runway 32 at Burlington Airpark, the aircraft struck the ground/snowbank about 25 feet short of the asphalt, 125 feet short of the displaced threshold. The hard landing resulted in substantial damage to the wings and landing gear. The pilot completed the landing and taxiied to the hangar. The damage to the landing gear resulted in the aircraft profile being nose low and tail high. The aircraft was further damaged as the pilot taxiied into the hangar when the vertical fin hit the top of the hangar door and the propellor struck a steel tow bar. One (1) S.O.B.
