Accident at near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Summary
1996-03-24: Trenton RCC called Toronto ACC to advise that the aircraft (missing since it departed March 23 on a local flight out of Sault Ste. Marie) had been found. The aircraft had crashed (for an unknown reason) through the ice on Little Lake George (five (5) miles east of Sault Ste. Marie). Two (2) S.O.B. -- both fatally injured. Damage -- extensive. Ops. impact -- unknown.
1996-03-26: UPDATE Supplemental information received from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A96O0048): The Aeronca 11CC aircraft was reported missing and was found by Search and Rescue. The aircraft was located fully submerged in Lake George. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured.
