Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)
Summary
1996-02-24: Initial information from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A96O0043): The aircraft (C-FNGJ) was en-route as a Medevac flight from London International Airport (CYXU) to Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). While level at 4,000 feet ASL, eight (8) miles northwest of Toronto, the aircraft encountered hail. The flight crew requested vectors away from the storm and the aircraft proceeded to Toronto without further incident. An examination by maintenance on the following day revealed leading edge damage to the wings and the tail section. The flight crew reported that when the weather was checked in London, there were no pilot reports of hail in the Toronto area.
