Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)

Summary

1998-02-18: During level off at 3,000' and on vectors to runway 06R, the right thrust lever remained at idle. The left thrust lever advanced to a high power setting to compensate (autothrust selected to speed mode) and the autopilot commenced aileron input to compensate for the asymetric thrust condition. The captain immediately tried to advanced the right thrust lever and it unjammed with considerable force when applied. The remainder of the approach was normal and both thrust levers moved freely; however, during engine shutdown at the gate, the right thrust lever jammed again near the idle indent. Maintenance changed the fuel flow governor and the aircraft was returned to service. Ops. Impact -- unknown. From a TSB Initial Notification.
