Incident at Vicinity of Unity, Saskatchewan
Summary
1996-12-13: The helicopter was enroute from Cold Lake, direct Lloydminster direct Kindersley direct Swift Current IFR at 7000 feet. The aircraft was observed to squawk code 7700 by the Prince Albert Sector radar controller. The flight was tagged on the radar display but was not identified and there was no communication with Winnipeg ACC or any FSS in the area. Rescue Coordination Centre was advised. A few minutes later RCC notified Winnipeg ACC that the aircraft was a HB41 and had forced landed in a farmer's field. There was no damage and no injuries to either the occupants or the aircraft. The pilot had relayed this information to Cold Lake Military via an over flying flight. The Canadian Military are investigating this occurrence. TSB not advised.
