Incident at Winnipeg, Manitoba

Summary

1996-12-13: CDR 1315 departed Thunder Bay on a routine scheduled flight to Winnipeg with a crew of four and 21 passengers on board. While enroute the crew advised Winnipeg ACC that they had received a fire warning on the left engine and shut the power plant down. They further declared an emergency and subsequently landed safely on runway 31 at Winnipeg. CFR was on standby. Update to follow. UPDATE: Company maintenance inspection revealed no evidence of smoke or fire. The aircraft was returned to service.
