Incident at Vicinity of Lumsden, Saskatchewan


1996-12-10: KFA122 which was enroute Winnipeg from Calgary advised Winnipeg ACC that due to a fuel transfer problem, they would be dumping fuel. This exercise continued until 2217Z, beginning at 40 miles west of Lumsden, continuing on a northeast track from Lumsden until the fuel dumping was completed. The aircraft diverted to Regina where the crew made a safe landing at 2225Z. CFR was not requested. Two other aircraft had their flight paths altered to accommodate the fuel dump. TSB were advised. UPDATE: Company maintenance locked the suspect transfer valve in the open position and the aircraft was returned to service.
