Incident at Calgary, Alberta
Summary
1996-11-28: Shortly after departure, the pilot of C-GXHL reported by cellular phone that he had experienced a complete electrical failure. There was besides the pilot, 5 passengers on board, all of whom were enroute to Peace River. It was reported that the pilot turned the onboard heater on which immediately caused an electrical failure. The pilot then turned off all the electrics and re-selected the power on. Electrical power was in evidence for approximately 5 seconds when once again all power was lost. The pilot was able to maintain visual flight, although it was dark. He returned and landed safely at 1415Z. The aircraft is in a hangar and company maintenance are in the process of determining the electrical short.
