Incident at Calgary, Alberta
Summary
1996-11-26: Canadian 909, an A320, departed Calgary enroute Vancouver at 0409Z. Twenty minutes west, the crew reported smoke in the cabin and returned to Calgary where an ILS to runway 34 was completed and an uneventful landing was accomplished at 0425Z. ERS was on standby, there was no damage to the aircraft, there were 79 SOB and 12,000 lbs of fuel. UPDATE: Maintenance could not find a fault. The aft galley had not been turned on. The flight departed for Vancouver International with the pressurization packs turned off, but when they were turned on, the smell re-occurred. The crew isolated No. 1 pack, and proceeded into Vancouver with one pack inoperative.
