Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

Summary

1996-11-26: The aircraft departed Edmonton for Salt Lake City with a crew of 5 and 23 passengers on board. Shortly after take off the crew advised Edmonton Tower that they had an engine fire warning in the left engine. The aircraft returned and landed without incident on runway 02 at 0032Z. CFS responded and confirmed that there was no visual fire in the engine. Company maintenance inspected the power plant and determined that it was a faulty wire. The aircraft was dispatched and returned to service. UPDATE: Company maintenance inspected the number one engine and determined that it had sustained a compressor stall which caused minor damage to the engine nose cowling.
