Incident at Winnipeg, MB/Dryden, Ontario

1996-11-12: The aircraft departed Winnipeg on a routine scheduled flight to Dryden and Thunder Bay. There were besides a crew of three, 10 passengers on board Calm Air 1564 a SAAB 340. The aircraft arrived at Dryden after an uneventful flight. While the crew were conducting a walk-around prior to departure, a bulge in a main tire was discovered. Further inspection revealed that the wheel rim assembly was missing. Company maintenance was notified and a new tire was flown to Dryden. A runway inspection at Winnipeg airport revealed some aircraft parts near the intersection of C & H taxiways. A part number was obtained and it was determined that it was a part of a wheel rim. An attempt was made by the Tower Supervisor to contact airlines companies that had departed that morning. Calm Air maintenance will be issuing a SDN.
