Incident at Winnipeg, Manitoba

Summary

1996-11-07: The Northwest Airlines, DC9-50, A/C #9868, was completing a start/pushback at Winnipeg. Tower personnel observed a burst of flames emanating from the right engine. ERS was activated and the aircraft returned to the RAMP. An inspection by local maintenance personnel determined the engine was serviceable and the aircraft departed. The aircraft captain filed an ACARS report with company maintenance control.
