Accident at Whitehorse, 60 MI NE, Yukon

Summary

1996-11-04: The pilot of the RCMP DHC-6 was returning to Whitehorse when he noticed a hole in the ice on Hook Lake, with two people waving and a message stamped in the snow to send a helicopter. A Stinson 108-2 aircraft had broken through the ice and had sunk. The pilot and passenger were uninjured, and were picked up before dark. The accident was not reported because the aircraft was supposedly in inactive storage, and the C of A was not in force.
