Incident at Thunder Bay, Ontario

Summary

1996-10-18: The crew of Calm Air 1565 advised Thunder Bay Tower that they were returning to the airport due to a "hot tailpipe indication" on the starboard engine. The crew requested ERS to standby. The aircraft was landed without further incident. The aircraft was then ground run without further malfunction. The aircraft was subsequently ferried to Winnipeg where maintenance inspected the problem and traced it to moisture in the cannon plug assembly. The aircraft was returned to service.
