Accident at South Trout Lake, Ontario

1996-09-12: The Cessna 206 Skywagon, C-GBGJ was on approach to the remote gravel runway. During the subsequent landing the aircraft was observed to flare high, then drop and bounce off the runway surface. The aircraft became airborne again, and then touched down for a second time. The pilot then lost directional control and attempted to carry out an overshoot. As the aircraft was leaving the runway surface the attempt to overshoot was abandoned in favour of trying to bring the aircraft to a stop. The aircraft travelled some distance across the muskeg before the wheels dug into the soft ground and the aircraft overturned. There were no injuries; however, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
