Incident at Thunder Bay, Ontario


1996-12-10: While enroute Thunder Bay the crew of KFA587, a Convair 580, advised Thunder Bay that they had shut down the number one engine. The aircraft continued and landed without further incident at 1557Z. TSB to update. UPDATE: The fire warning indication was traced to a broken tail pipe exhaust clamp which allowed hot engine exhaust gases to come in contact and trigger the fire warning sensor. The company reported several previous instances of failure of the exhaust clamp. The company will be sending an SDR to Transport Canada.
