Incident at Winnipeg, Manitoba

1996-12-10: The pilot of Northland Air Manitoba (NAM953), a HS748, was 7 miles west of Winnipeg when he had a left engine fire indication. The pilot returned and landed safely on runway 18. Six other aircraft were delayed, all regional operators. The aircraft taxied to the apron on its own power. UPDATE: Company maintenance inspection revealed that the fire detection system had failed giving a false indication to the crew. An SDR was submitted to Transport Canada.
