Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)
Summary
1996-06-30: N8314D departed runway 31 at 1625 on a VFR flight plan to Flin Flon, Manitoba. The pilot of N8314D was instructed to turn left to a heading of 270 and maintain 3000 feet until further advised. Canadian 791 a B737 departed runway 31 and had just switched to departure when the pilot of N8314D broke radar heading and turned right through the departure path of CDN791. ATC advised the crew of CDN791 to level off. CDN791 advised ATC that they had the traffic. The 737 passed underneath N8314D with an approximate 100 foot separation. The pilot of N8314D advised ATC that his aircraft had suffered a gryo malfunction.
