Incident at LYNN LAKE, MANITOBA

Summary

1996-06-17: The DeHavilland, DHC-6 twin-engine aircraft, was conducting a cruise climb approximately three minutes after departure when the right engine came to a sudden stop. The crew had received no advance indication of the impending engine failure and proceeded with the engine out procedures. The crew turned the aircraft around and returned to the airport where a single-engine landing was carried out without further incident. The operator is conducting an engineering inspection of the engine and will be submitting an SDR to Transport Canada.
