Accident at RED LAKE ON (CYRL)

Summary

1996-06-23: The Cessna 185 departed Runway 08 for local to east. After take-off the pilot reported engine failure and unable to make runway landed on Nungessor Road approximately 1 mile east of the airport. No injuries and no damage. UPDATE: Investigation did not reveal any cause for the power loss and the engine ran normally on the ground shortly after the forced landing. Reportedly, at the top of the climb, the pilot may have inadvertently pulled back the mixture control instead of the intended propeller control, which would result in loss of power from fuel starvation.
