Incident at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Summary

1996-06-12: The aircraft departed Edmonton enroute Saskatoon approximately 30 miles west of North Battleford when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit. The pilot then advised ATC that the situation was under control and the aircraft continued to Saskatoon where an uneventful landing was accomplished. UPDATE: Inspection revealed that one of the two large electrical resistors, which convert 24 volts to 12 volts in order to power the 12 volt transponders had failed. The aircraft has been repaired and returned to service.
