Incident at 60 Miles SW Red Lake, Ontario (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1996-06-10: Operating Irregularity took place between Air New Zealand (ANZ1) a Boeing 747 which was flight planned London Heathrow to Los Angeles (LAX) and Canadian 956, a Boeing 737 flight planned Edmonton/Dauphin/Red Lake and Toronto. Both flights were at FL350. The radar separation reduced to 2.99 miles between these flights. The situation was further complicated by ANZ1 who turned the wrong direction further reducing the separation. TSB are conducting an investigation.
