Incident at Winnipeg, Manitoba
Summary
1996-06-07: United 961, a Boeing 767 enroute Los Angeles from Paris, with a crew of 11 and 173 passengers on board advised ATC that they were encountering an oil consumption problem and would require a re-route from Arviat direct to Winnipeg. The aircraft was recleared direct Winnipeg, ERS responded and the aircraft landed safely at 2019Z. There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft. Company maintenance determined that a cracked oil line from the gear box to the oil cooler was the problem. The line was changed and the aircraft was returned to service.
