Incident at Winnipeg, Manitoba
Summary
1996-06-04: The pilot of PAG108, a Metro SW4, was IFR Island Lake, Manitoba to Winnipeg. The pilot shutdown the starboard engine when the aircraft was 15 miles southeast of Winnipeg. The pilot was unable to feather prop. CFR responded. The aircraft landed safely on runway 36 at 0031Z. UPDATE: Subsequent investigation by maintenance found that the pin securing the "stop and feather" push pull rod to the bellcrank assembly had fallen out. The cotter pin holding the pin in, had worn through allowing the pin to fall out. The pin had fallen beside the hydraulic pump in a manner which caused the power lever to jam at 70% position. With the pin removed the crew could not feather the propeller. An SDR has been submitted to Transport Canada.
