Accident at Snake Falls, Ontario
Summary
1996-05-16: The pilot of the Green Airways Dehavilland DHC-2 Beaver seaplane was landing on the river near a tourist camp at Snake Falls, Ontario, after a positioning flight from REDDITT. On final approach to the landing area, the float of the aircraft struck and severed an electrical power line strung across the river. The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft was not injured and continued the approach and landed the aircraft without further incident. Marks on the line indicated that it was likely struck by the keels of the floats. No damage to the aircraft was noted. The power line was reportedly difficult to see from the air. The line was repaired and a coloured sleeve was placed on it.
