Incident at Thompson, Manitoba
Summary
1996-04-29: The crew of a C130 Military Hercules which is assigned to 435 Squadron, advised Thompson Air Radio that they would be doing low level drops of streamers at Thompson Airport as part of a Search and Rescue exercise. A number of these streamers were heavy and landed in close proximity to buildings (hangars) on the aerodrome. A NOTAM was not issued, nor were the users advised that this exercise was going to take place. It is entirely possible that the information was not passed on to the Air Radio staff at Thompson. TSB has advised DOT Enforcement Branch.
