Incident at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Summary

1996-03-30: The owner/operator who had purchased the Rotorway Exec-90, amateur built helicopter was conducting his first solo training flight after 17 hours of dual instruction. The pilot reported that as he brought the helicopter into a hover, it began to move left towards a hangar. The pilot in his attempt to correct the lateral movement, discovered that he was approximately 100 feet high and in trouble. The machine descended to the ground where it impacted and settled on its left side and slide into the airport boundary fence. The pilot, due to a four point harness restraint system was uninjured. He staggered from the helicopter and advised the fire department of his dilemna.
