Accident at Martensville, Saskatchewan
Summary
1996-03-10: The privately-operated, ski-equipped Husky Norseman II/A advanced ultralight, C-FOIP, was taking off from the private runway for a local pleasure flight. The main landing gear ski had just lifted off the runway surface when the tail ski struck a snow ridge. The tail ski and rudder were torn from the aircraft and the flight controls seized. The aircraft continued to climb to approximately 75 feet above ground before descending in a shallow left bank until striking the ground. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the landing gear, cowling and propeller; however, the pilot reported no injuries.
