Incident at Wabush Labrador

Summary

1996-12-03: KEL 104 aborted its take-off and slid off the side of the runway at 1638Z. The aircraft sustained no damage. Runway was clear at 1700Z. The pilot had landed about thirty eight minutes before and found that the runway condition was not as good as the Runway Condition Report he received. He thought that the braking action was poor. He was going to Goose Bay empty and got up to approximately fifty knots when the aircraft started to drift sideways. The wind was 270 degrees at 10 knots gusting to 20 knots. TSB not investigating.
