Incident at Halifax, N.S. (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1996-08-19: The pilot of the B767 elected to pull up and discontinue the approach when he received a Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) alert. On overshooting the flight conflicted with a departing Dehavilland DH8 (Air Atlantic - ATL - BA41). The ceiling was 800 feet broken, visibility 6 miles. The flight was vectored for another approach and landed without incident.
