Incident at Gander Oceanic Airspace


1996-07-19: The pilot reported pressurization problems and requested descent to FL180. Due to traffic ATC was unable to comply so the pilot descended according to contingency procedures and was cleared to Gander at FL180. Maintenance determined that a boot that joins two ducts in the left pressurization pack was torn and a boot in the right pressurization pack system had detached from the clamp that holds them to the duct. The right boot was reinstalled and the left boot will be replaced. TSB case closed.
