Incident at ST. JOHN'S INTL NL (CYYT)

Summary

1996-07-16: The Convair departed St.John's for a flight to Moncton. A short time after departure the pilot informed ATC that he was shutting down the #2 engine due to an overheat condition. An emergency was declared and the aircraft was cleared back to the airport where it landed safely. Maintenance found that the #2 oil cooler door actuator had failed with the door in the closed position which caused the oil temperature to exceed the maximum limit. TSB closed.
