Incident at 55 00 N 52 00W

Summary

1997-03-25: The aircraft was at FL370 when the pilot advised ATC that the #3 engine was showing low oil pressure. The crew shutdown the engine and requested a decent to FL310. ATC was unable to clear the aircraft as requested due to traffic below. The flight crew then transmitted a pan call, turned north off the track and decended to FL310. This resulted in a loss of separation. The aircraft diverted to St.John's NF. and landed without incident. Maintenance found that the oil line from the number 1 and 2 bearings was leaking. TSB closed.
