Incident at Sydney, N.S.
Summary
1997-03-25: The pilot observed fire emanating from the #2 engine shortly after take-off. He shut down the engine and landed without further incident. Maintenance determined that the "flames" were actually the result of a alternator bearing failure that produced sparks. The alternator appears to have failed prematurely, a Service Difficulty Report has been filed. TSB case closed.
