Incident at Gander Oceanic Airspace

Summary

1997-03-25: The aircraft was eastbound at FL370 when the port engine started to vibrate. The flight crew requested and received a clearance to return to Gander. The aircraft landed safely. The left engine vibration indicator indicated in the caution range and as high as 2.7 prior to engine thrust being reduced. The operator replaced the engine and will send it to the manufacturer for analysis. TSB case closed.
