Accident
at Mile 701, Alaska Highway
Summary
1996-01-19: Pilot had reset the ground adjustable propeller to increase engine rpm. On take-off a/c became airborne faster than expected and engine rpm was excessive. On climb-out pilot reduced power and aircraft settled. Pilot then attempted to land adjacent to the strip but touchdown occurred at the edge of the road and main rotor struck the ground. No injuries. Sub. damage.
