Incident at VANCOUVER

Summary

1996-02-12: While 30 miles west of Vancouver on descent through 7,000 ft, the DHC-8's main cabin door warning light illuminated, and cabin pressure was lost. The flight crew slowed the aircraft down, and a landing was made without further incident. Upon examination, it was found that the spring strut which normally holds the door handle in the over-centre position, had broken.
