Accident at EPHRATA, WASHINGTON STATE
Summary
1995-09-10: The PIK-20 glider was on approach to the airfield but encountered a downdraft that forced the pilot to choose an alternate landing site. The pilot chose another field to the west, towards the setting sun. On landing the right wing of the glider struck a post. The glider was substantially damaged and the pilot was seriously injured. The NTSB is responding.
