Incident at 40 NM. S of TUMBLER RIDGE
Summary
1996-06-12: While in cruise flight, the pilot heard a loud bang from the engine. The engine started to shake and smoke came into the cockpit. The pilot made a forced landing onto a frozen lake and activated his ELT. He was located by SAR, who dropped survival equipment. The pilot spent the night on the lake and was picked up the next day by helicopter. The cause of the malfunction is not known at this time. There were no injuries and no damage.
