Incident at Vicinity of Chatham, New Brunswick
Summary
1995-12-07: While in cruise flight (from Toronto (LBPIA) to Paris, France), the crew received a fire warning in the baggage compartment. The crew elected to dump fuel and return to Toronto (LBPIA). ERS were not requested. Maintenance found no evidence of smoke or fire. However, maintenance staff believe that condensation from the cargo load (horsemeat) triggered the alarm. This type of cargo load has triggered the fire/smoke sensor on previous flights. From a TSB Initial Notification.
